Work on Türksat 7A will begin at the end of the year

Minister Uraloğlu said that TÜRKSAT, Türkiye's satellite technology, IT and cable services flagship, is a commercial company whose capital is fully publicly owned.

Stating that the company operates in three strategic areas: satellite, cable and digital transformation, Uraloğlu stated that the institution plays a crucial role in both protecting rights in space and building Türkiye's digital infrastructure. Uraloğlu informed that TÜRKSAT has six active high-orbit communications satellites, including Türksat 6A, all of which were developed by Turkish engineers.

“Our goal is to be among the top 10 in the world in all areas”

Uraloğlu emphasized that it is of great importance for Türkiye to be present in the satellite sector, a strategic area, and stated that their goal is to be among the top 10 in the world in all sectors.

Pointing out that they serve a vast geographical area stretching from eastern Asia to western Europe and covering two-thirds of the world's population, Uraloğlu said:

“Orbital rights in space are title deeds of countries. New investments must be made in satellites, which are long-lived systems. In this context, we have started the process of the new generation Türksat 7A project.

About Türksat 7A

The Protocol to Financially Support Türksat 7A as part of TÜRKSAT's goal of increasing its communication capacity in space was signed on June 19, 2025 between the company and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Transport, Maritime and Communications Research Center Directorate.

The said protocol established the framework of support to be provided by the Ministry for the construction process of Türksat 7A.
