Weerdt explained that about 43,000 of the 172,000 people injured in Gaza since October 2023 have suffered life-changing injuries, noting that almost one in four of them (around 10,000) are children.
Weerdt recalled that about 5,000 additional violations were recorded since the last report in September 2025, saying that almost half of them occurred after the ceasefire was declared in October 2025.
Weerdt pointed out that less than 25 percent of the 2,277 people whose limbs were amputated due to the prosthetics shortage in Gaza were equipped with permanent prostheses, noting that at least 18 shipments of rehabilitation materials such as wheelchairs or prosthetic limbs have long been awaiting permission to enter Gaza.
“In total, more than 50,000 (Israeli attacks) conflict-related injuries require long-term rehabilitation. There are no functioning rehabilitation facilities in the region,” Weerdt said. he said.
