Energy and Natural Resources Minister Bayraktar answered journalists' questions before the meeting of the AK Party-TBMM group.
A journalist asked: “Do we have to worry about natural gas because of developments in Iran?” When asked, Bayraktar replied: “Don’t worry about natural gas.” He replied.
Bayraktar emphasized that there is no problem with security of supply: “We do not see a problem at the moment with either heating oil or natural gas, but we are following developments closely.” he said.
Asked about his assessment of the rise in Brent oil prices, Bayraktar said: “There are serious concerns and supply disruptions in the world. Therefore, we see prices rising. I hope that this conflict in the region ends as soon as possible and that markets in the world normalize a little more. We want this to happen quickly. I hope it happens.” he said.
Asked whether a new measure will be taken against the increase in fuel prices due to the rise in Brent oil prices, Bayraktar said:
“We are working with our Ministry of Finance and Treasury. Essentially, prices have eased a little, with the expectation that supply will return to normal due to the possibility of an end to the war due to the US President's statements that caused prices to rise and fall. We hope that such positive developments and statements will bring oil back to normal levels. We had forecast around $60 this year, especially for the rest of the year, but of course there is a war environment at the moment.”
Asked about the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Bayraktar said: “Our main purchases are outside of Hormuz, so there seems to be no risk for us at the moment.” he said.
