We are developing policies to make Türkiye self-sufficient in the energy sector

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Bayraktar met with members of non-governmental organizations as part of the National Will Meetings program entitled “Energy in the Turkish Century”.

Speaking at the broadcast, Bayraktar explained that they have made a significant change in strategy with the National Energy and Mining Policy after 2016, noting that they will leave no place unturned at sea and on land in Turkey.

Recalling that the sixth drilling ship of the energy fleet has arrived in Turkey, Bayraktar said: “We have six deep-sea drilling ships. We will send one to the Black Sea. The fifth will come along with Fatih, Yavuz, Abdülhamid Han and Kanuni. We will also deploy one in the Mediterranean and in various projects.” shared his knowledge.

Explaining that they view energy as a matter of survival, Bayraktar said: “For 23 years, under the leadership of our President, we have been developing policies to meet Türkiye's energy needs and make Türkiye energy independent by ending its foreign dependence. Türkiye's energy vision in the Turkish century is to make Türkiye absolutely energy independent. Our red apple, all our efforts are in this direction.” he said.

We will drill 5-6 holes for new discoveries

Stating that they will drill 5-6 wells for new discoveries in the Black Sea, Bayraktar said: “With this, we will increase our gas production and exploration in the Black Sea and reduce our country's dependence on foreign countries in this area day by day.” gave his assessment.

Noting that they will work intensively on resources abroad, Bayraktar said:

“You can see Türkiye in Somalia and Africa. We will be exploring for oil and natural gas in three offshore fields and two onshore fields in Pakistan. You can see us in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. You can see Türkiye intensively exploring for oil and natural gas in Turkmenistan, Iraq and Syria.”

Recalling that a pilot plant with an annual capacity of 1,200 tons is operating in Beylikova, Bayraktar said: “Rare earths are an important opportunity for Turkey because we have an important resource. What we are doing in this pilot plant is now working to expand it into an industrial plant, to an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons.” he said.
