US Vice President Vance and his delegation arrived in Islamabad for Iran talks

A Pakistani government official reported that three planes carrying Vance and other delegation members landed at Nur Khan Air Base near Islamabad.

Vance's delegation also includes US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The written statement from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that the delegation in question reached Islamabad and Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishak Dar was also part of the welcoming delegation.

The statement highlighted that while welcoming, Dar praised Vance's determination for lasting regional and global peace and said, “Dar said that they hope that the parties will begin negotiations in a constructive manner and expressed Pakistan's desire to continue its role as a mediator for the parties to find a lasting and sustainable solution to the conflict.” The statement has been attached.

The visit in question is also the first visit by a US vice president to Pakistan since 2011.

The delegation led by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammed Baqir Qalibaf, who will lead the negotiations with the US, arrived in Islamabad yesterday evening.

Temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran, including Israel

After the US and Israeli attacks against Iran on February 28, which developed into a war with retaliatory strikes by Iran and attacks on some countries in the region, US President Donald Trump announced at around 1:30 a.m. on April 8 that he had accepted a ceasefire.

Trump said they had accepted a two-week ceasefire on the condition of opening the Strait of Hormuz, that they had received a 10-article offer from Iran and that it was a viable basis for negotiations.

Iran's Supreme National Security Council declared that “Iran has achieved its war goals” and that final negotiations in Islamabad should be completed within a maximum of 15 days.

Türkiye, Pakistan and Egypt made intensive efforts to ensure that intelligence exchanges between the US and Iran continued and yielded results.

The Israeli government, which has said it supports the temporary ceasefire, continues its attacks against Lebanon, arguing that the Lebanon issue is not included in reconciliation.
