In this context, the company signed a capacity sale agreement with Anuvu, which provides global in-flight entertainment solutions and high-speed connectivity for mobility markets such as aviation.
TÜRKSAT also sat down with Viasat, one of the leading companies in the field of satellite communications, and entered into a capacity sharing cooperation agreement with this company.
Ahmet Hamdi Atalay, General Manager of TÜRKSAT AŞ, who was in Washington for the Satellite 2026 trade fair, provided information about the company's activities.
Atalay explained that the satellite exhibition is an important platform for presence on the international stage and that the exhibition is the most important event in the world in terms of the satellite market.
Atalay explained that TÜRKSAT, which he called Türkiye's “eye in space,” represented the Turkish flag at the exhibition and demonstrated the country's power with its stakeholders involved in the production of the 6A satellite.
Heavy call traffic
Regarding TÜRKSAT's goal of opening to international markets, Atalay stated that they will prepare for this in 2025 and fight for the company to take its deserved place in international markets in 2026 and beyond.
Atalay pointed out that the Satellite trade fair is a platform for meetings with customers and business partners, noting that they have signed various agreements and prepared the infrastructure for cooperation.
Stating that there have been numerous cooperation meetings, Atalay explained that most of the meetings have taken place in accordance with the companies' requests.
Explaining that they have signed two important agreements, Atalay said: “We have signed agreements to share the capacity of our satellites and to share the capacity with other satellite operators worldwide when we need it.” he said.
Atalay pointed out that Anuvu, one of the companies with which they have entered into a contract, provides Turkish Airlines' in-flight entertainment system and internet connection, and stated that with the signed agreement, the company will acquire capacity to provide this service via TÜRKSAT satellites.
The goal is to become a global player
Atalay stated that TÜRKSAT is now a regional player and intends to become a global player in the future.
Stating that TÜRKSAT provides services in many countries in its region, Atalay pointed out that the satellite connections of the UAVs and UCAVs manufactured and exported by Baykar and TAI in various countries are carried out through TÜRKSAT satellites, and it is a very large export item.
Atalay informed that TÜRKSAT provides broadcasting and Internet services in many countries and that many broadcasting companies broadcast their radio and television broadcasts. Atalay said that the coverage area with the TÜRKSAT 6A satellite has expanded to Indonesia and that service sales will continue to increase wherever TÜRKSAT has coverage.
The specification preparations for TÜRKSAT 7A are essentially completed
Regarding the status of the TÜRKSAT 7A satellite, Atalay stated that preparations for the specification have been largely completed and are expected to be completed next month.
Atalay said it plans to sign the contract in the first half of this year and start production in the second half of this year.
Stating that the TÜRKSAT 6A satellite has provided significant experience and confidence, Atalay pointed out that it raises expectations for advanced technologies in TÜRKSAT 7A.
Atalay explained that in addition to the technology that allows the hardware to be managed from the ground with software for the TÜRKSAT 7A satellite, there are studies on some payloads that may be intended for civil and military purposes, as well as on the processing of the data obtained from the satellite with artificial intelligence on the ground.
