Türksat 6A is the product of 10 years of work

Türkiye's communications satellite transmission began in 1994 with Türksat 1B.

Two years later, Türksat 1C was launched in 1996, Türksat 2A in 2001, Türksat 3A in 2008 and Türksat 4B in 2014. Türksat 5A was launched in 2021 and finally Türksat 5B was launched in 2022.

With the program initiated by Türksat, Turkish engineers were also involved in the construction of 4A and 4B as well as 3A. In addition, as part of the technology transfer program, Türksat engineers participated in the construction of Türksat 5A and 5B in the design, production and testing phases of the satellite.

Turksat 6A development process

While Turkey's satellite studies continue, the domestic and national Türksat 6A project was officially launched on December 15, 2014 under the auspices of the ministry. Work began on May 21, 2015 with the opening of the Space Systems Integration and Test Center (USET), established in cooperation with Türksat and the Presidency of Defense Industries at TAI facilities.

While the preliminary review phase began on December 31, 2015, the critical review phase 1 began on December 26, 2016. The next year, the Thermal Structural Adequacy Model was completed.

While Phase 2 of the critical review began on November 29, 2018, steps were taken to build the engineering model satellite in 2019. Work on the model in question was completed in 2022.

The first functional tests of the flight model ended in June 2022. The thermal vacuum tests of the flight model were completed in December 2022.

The flight model's vibration and acoustic tests were conducted in August 2023, while the flight model's shock test (fit check) was completed in November 2023.

Final functional testing of the flight model was completed in January 2024 and CATR testing of the flight model was conducted.

In April 2024, the mass characteristics of the flight model were measured and last month, delivery and packaging of the flight model on the ground began. The satellite was sent to Space X's Cape Canaveral Cosmodrome in Florida, USA, on June 4.
