At the “Platinum Global 100 Awards” ceremony, which was held for the seventh time this year, Minister Kacır explained that this year the awards will be given under the theme of “Technology Integration” and wished continued success to the exporters who successfully represent the country Success at international level.
Stating that the epidemics, geopolitical tensions, regional conflict environments and instabilities that have occurred all over the world in recent years have made global supply chains fragile, Kacır said: “We are witnesses that the founders of the memorized free trade rules in international trade.” The current order and protectionism are increasing day by day. “To ensure sustainability in this uncertain environment, countries are leveraging infrastructure and technology development policies that enable value-added production,” he said.
Pointing out that efforts to preserve economic profits and achieve strategic independence led to an escalation of trade and technology wars, Kacır said:
“Despite such an uncertain investment environment and difficulties in international trade, our production and export journey as Türkiye is successfully moving forward in its own direction without interruption. Under the leadership of Turkish industry, we have increased our exports from 36 billion dollars to 262 billion dollars.” The share of our exports to the world has increased from 0.55 percent to 262 billion dollars in the last 22 years.” It increased to 1 ,07. Emphasizing that Turkey's private sector is now a leader in research and development with more than 1,600 R&D and design centers, Kacır said that today more than 11,000 technology startups are carrying out innovation-oriented projects in 105 technoparks.
Kacır explained that they have introduced new support mechanisms that will further strengthen the strong production infrastructure and allow the industry to rise on three main pillars: high value-added production, green and digital transformation.
Kacır explained that with the Technology-Focused Industrial Move program, they provide end-to-end holistic support from research and development to mass production to high technology investments:
“To date, we have mobilized 98 billion lira of investments in the areas of machinery, mobility, structural change in production, health and chemical products and digital transformation. The Emerging Innovative Technologies Call that we launched this year also attracted a lot of attention.” With our investment commitment advance program, we can finance our foreign trade deficit for 284 products, i.e. 85 percent.
Within the framework of this program, for which our Central Bank has allocated 300 billion liras of resources, we have completed the transactions of 28 projects with an investment volume of over 239 billion liras. We launched the HIT-30 high-technology investment program. “By 2030, we will pave the way for over $30 billion in investments, from semiconductors to mobility, from advanced manufacturing to communications and space, from health technologies to digital and green technologies.”
“We are accelerating our companies’ double transformation investments”
Kacır explained that with the long-term, constantly updated and renewed incentive system and support they provide, they will continue to meet the needs of investors according to the current conditions.
Kacır said that they will continue to gradually commission new projects that will increase the competitiveness of companies and support their transformation focused on sustainability and efficiency. “With the green and digital transformation support programs we launched this year, we are accelerating our companies’ dual transformation investments as part of long-term roadmaps. With the Turkey Green Industry Project and the Turkey Organized Industrial Zones Project, which we partnered with the World Bank, we will provide over $700 million in financing to our industrialists, SMEs and green technologies. “We offer them to start-ups that develop them.” he said.
Kacır stated that they designed the investment platform for the decarbonization of Turkish industry in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and reached an agreement with international financial institutions to provide 5 billion euros in financing for green transformation investments by 2030.
Stating that they introduced lean production and digital transformation to industrialists with ten model factories, Kacır pointed out that they participated in the Digital Europe program to further strengthen the support of companies in digital transformation.
Kacır explained that five consortia from Turkey, which will play a crucial role in the digital transformation of industry, SMEs and public institutions, are part of the European Digital Innovation Centers Network. “In collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, we are offering €300 million in financing support for the digital transformation projects that our SMEs will develop. “We will continue to be a supporter and a pioneer of the transformative power of technology in manufacturing.” “With this understanding, we will continue to advance our goals and shape the future.” he said.
