Türkiye will collaborate with 11 countries on “artificial intelligence-assisted robotics” projects

According to TÜBİTAK, this collaboration will take place through the tender opened by the “CONCERT Japan” platform.

The platform was created as an independent structure with the aim of improving scientific and technological cooperation between Europe and Japan. In this context, a joint cooperation call for proposals entitled “Artificial Intelligence Supported Robotics for Real World Applications” was opened with the participation of funding organizations from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia as well as Turkey.

The aim of the call is to promote international mobility, especially between European and Japanese researchers, as well as sustainable and multilateral research cooperation. Researchers in Europe and Japan will work together to develop AI-powered adaptive autonomous systems and intelligent robotics that can be used in dynamic, unstructured and human-centered real-world environments.

Projects must be submitted by July 22nd

It is important that project applications include international cooperation and are presented within the framework of interdisciplinary approaches in the specified area.

Each project consortium applying must consist of at least three suitable project partners, one from Japan and two from the two European countries participating in the call.

Applications for projects can be submitted until July 22nd.

Support up to 145,000 euros per project

Funding will be given to projects submitted by higher education institutions, training and research hospitals, public institutions and organizations within the scope of the Higher Education Act, as well as capital companies based in Turkey that create added value at the company level regardless of industry and size and have a commercial registration certificate.

The project duration is a maximum of 36 months. TÜBİTAK will coordinate the Türkiye part of the call. The contribution requested by TÜBİTAK cannot exceed 145,000 euros per project, 100,000 euros for higher education institutions, training and research hospitals, public institutions and organizations and 145,000 euros for private organizations per implementing organization, excluding institutional shares and project incentive bonuses.

Under the tender, a maximum amount of up to 175,000 lira can be requested for travel to attend domestic and international scientific meetings such as congresses and conferences, and a maximum amount of 300,000 lira for travel related to activities such as study visits and networking between project partners, up to a total of 475,000 lira per executive organization.

Higher education institutions, training and research hospitals as well as public institutions and organizations will receive 100 percent support, large private organizations 60 percent and SMEs 75 percent based on their approved budgets.

The application results are expected to be announced in December.

The resulting projects are considered strategic because the rapid developments in the field of robotics supported by artificial intelligence are changing society in many areas from industry to the service sector.
