Türkiye rose to second place in Europe in fiber optic infrastructure

In his written statement, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu evaluated the results of the “FTTH/B Market Panorama Research”, in which the FTTH Council Europe compiled data on the countries' fiber optic infrastructure.

Accordingly, Uraloğlu emphasized that Turkey is one of the fastest developing countries in Europe in the field of fiber optic internet infrastructure: “According to the study, Turkey is with its fiber-to-the-home infrastructure reaching 18 million households , the second largest country in Europe.” Europe after France. “We deployed fiber optic infrastructure to nearly 2.5 million homes in one year.”

Recalling that Turkey ranked third in fiber optic infrastructure in the previous FTTH European Council report, Uraloğlu said:

“To date, with our work on both information and communication policy and legislation, we have carried out radical reform activities and not just saved the day. As a result, many transport and information services, which were only a dream for our people yesterday, have been destroyed. are now an integral part of everyday life. In this context, Turkey is above the European average in terms of development. We have become the two countries in Europe in terms of fiber optics in one year. This report is a sign that we recognize the importance we attach to our communications infrastructure and of course our fiber infrastructure.”


“We are in a time where we have to dream bigger”

Uraloğlu emphasized in the annual reports of independent international organizations such as the FTTH European Council that Turkey has taken its place among the world's leading countries in IT and communications infrastructure in recent years. Stressing that they will continue their investments in this area without slowing down in line with their 2071 vision goals, Uraloğlu stated that the number of broadband customers, which was almost zero in 2002, has exceeded 95 million today.

Stating that they will bring broadband internet services to every home, Uraloğlu said, “Currently, our total fiber length is about 550,000 kilometers and we plan to increase it to 600,000 kilometers by the end of this year. In four years we will do this.” Increase our fiber length to 850,000 kilometers. he said.
