According to the ministry, Türkiye, which continues its investments in renewable energy without slowing down, has made significant progress in this area, especially in the last five years.
Türkiye's installed solar capacity, which was 7,816 megawatts in 2021, increased by 230 percent to 25,827 megawatts in the past 5 years. Another resource that Türkiye attacked was the wind. Installed wind power, which was 10,607 megawatts in 2021, rose to 14,862 megawatts in January. In the last five years, installed solar and wind capacity has increased by around 121 percent overall.
Bayraktar, whose views were included in the statement, said: “We have recently made a quiet revolution in the renewable energy sector. We have comprehensively assessed the potential of our solar and wind energy. Over the last five years, we have increased our total solar and wind installed capacity from 18,423 megawatts to 40,689 megawatts at the beginning of this year. In other words, we have doubled it in five years.” gave his information.
Recalling that the share of renewable energy in the total installed capacity was 53.6 percent in 2021, Bayraktar said: “We have also significantly increased the share of renewable energy in the societal installed capacity, bringing it to 62.5 percent today.” gave his assessment.
Pointing out that Türkiye aims to increase its installed solar and wind capacity to 120,000 megawatts by 2035, Bayraktar said: “We have reached a third of our target of 120,000 megawatts in wind and solar energy. Our installed electricity capacity will continue to increase day by day as new investments are put into operation.” he said.
