Bayraktar emphasized that Türkiye conducted natural gas and oil exploration with foreign partners until 2016, but now decided to change course to change the outcome:
“We decided to explore for natural gas and oil with Türkiye's own ships, its own engineers, its own technicians and an intensive exploration program, especially in the blue homeland, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. We burned this gas and after that we ensured that 4 million households use this natural gas in their houses. Referring to oil exploration activities in the Gabar Mountains that were once linked to terrorism, Bayraktar emphasized that Türkiye has now reached production of about 80,000 barrels per day with the oil discovered in 2021.
Pointing out that its contribution to the country is nearly $3.5 billion at today's oil prices, Bayraktar said: “We don't import that much oil from abroad. Our refineries now use our own oil.” he said.
