“Türkiye achieves world-famous achievements in defense industry”

Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır said at the youth meeting at Afyon Kocatepe University's Atatürk Cultural Center, attended by Turkey's first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, that Turkish youth are at the center of all projects.

Stating that very important initiatives were taken in the field of domestic and national aviation in Turkey in the 20th century, but no results were achieved due to the political and economic instabilities of that time, Kacır said, “When Turkey achieves world-leading achievements. “ Stories in the defense industry and aviation today are thanks to the Turkish youth. “The engineering and technology teams formed by young people like you have achieved great achievements that have taken Turkey into the second century of our republic, the Turkish century,” he said.

“The true children of this land, by the sweat of their brow and the sweat of their spirit, have carried the Turk’s signature to heaven.”

Explaining the aviation initiatives of Nuri Demirağ, Vecihi Hürkuş and some relevant people in the country years ago, Kacır continued as follows:

“Everything in the name of aviation in this country, even everything in the name of industrialization, has been disrupted. Our entire history of industrialization, our aviation history, was disrupted and turned into a history of blocked histories, until the 2000s. When in the 2000s a firm will came and said: “Whatever this country needs, we will ensure that our own children are born and developed by the sweat of their brow and their spirit.” We will stand behind them with the will of the state.” Thus, the true children of this country will become Bayraktars, Akıncıs, Aksungurs by the sweat of their brow and their spirit. “He brought forth ANKAs, Hürkuşs, Hürjets, Ataks, Gökbeys, Kaans, Red Apples and brought the Turk's signature to heaven.”

Underlining his belief that Turkish youth will overcome all possible burdens and tackle the most important projects in the world when the obstacles in front of them are removed, Kacır said: “With this understanding, we hope that this will happen together with you and the TEKNOFEST succeeds.” Generation, we will achieve many more great successes. There are no similar ones in the world.” With this understanding, we organize non-technological festivals. In 2018, 20,000 young people took part in TEKNOFEST. 20,000 young people applied for 14 technology competitions. In 2023, 1 million young people applied to 337,000 teams across 44 technology competitions. We thought we had broken a record that would be difficult to break until next year. This year, 1 million 600,000 Turkish young people applied in 788 thousand teams applied for TEKNOFEST 2024. Such a spirit of social mobilization does not exist in any country in the world. Not in America, England, Germany and Japan, which is considered the most advanced in technology. There is no such technological activity or national technological spirit in China and India, the countries with the largest populations in the world. “With this spirit, this belief, this enthusiasm and enthusiasm, together we will hopefully bring many success stories to this beautiful country and to Turkey,” he said.

“Our goals are higher”

Stating that they continued their work with the aim of being very successful after aviation, especially in space technology, Kacır said: “Unfortunately, the 1980s and 1990s were lost years in Turkey's technological path, during the computer revolution and the Internet revolution “Turkey developed at a great pace in the world and experienced these years of political and economic instability.” “Unfortunately, he wasted it,” he said.

Stating that the struggle launched with strong will under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the 2000s has not remained fruitless, Kacır said that today significant achievements in space technology have been achieved: “Ultimately, all critical infrastructures, including electro-optical ones.” We managed to send our local and national imaging satellite İmece with its systems into space in 2023, on the 100th anniversary of our Republic,” but we are not giving up, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. In the week of July 8, 2024, Turkey will launch its first national communications satellite, TÜRKSAT 6A. He is capable of building his own communications satellites.” “We will be one of eleven countries,” he said.

Stating that TÜRKSAT 6A will operate at an altitude of 36,000 kilometers, Kacır said, “Our goal is higher. We will use our own technology to reach the moon, 380,000 kilometers away. This will happen with the efforts of young people, young engineers and scientists like you. Turkey is one of the four leading countries in the world in hybrid rocket engine technology.” “With the lunar project that we are going to carry out, we want to be the first country to realize this technology in space.” “If we succeed, we have the opportunity “To produce in Turkey spacecraft that will enable the transfer of satellites between orbits,” he said.

Explaining the objectives of the National Space Program and the work it has done, Kacır emphasized that the development of space and satellite technologies at home and abroad will strengthen the Republic's claim to “complete independence”.

After his speech, Prof. Afyon Kocatepe University said. Dr. Mehmet Karakaş and Afyonkarahisar Governor Kübra Güran Yiğitbaşı presented gifts to Minister Kacır.

Later, Turkey's first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı gave a lecture to the university students who filled the hall.

Minister Kacır also met with the city's industrialists and businessmen at the Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
