Turkish investors have 2,251 investments in 128 countries

The Ministry of Commerce conducted a “Foreign Investment Survey” to determine foreign investments by individuals and legal entities resident in Türkiye as of the end of 2025. In this context, the capital position of 2,251 investments abroad by individuals and legal entities resident in Türkiye was determined to be $69.2 billion. In 2024, the capital position of investments was $60.1 billion.

According to the net investment position, which also takes into account the debt ratio between the investor and the foreign investment, the amount of foreign investments made by individuals and legal entities resident in Türkiye was $72.1 billion.

When studying the distribution of foreign investments from Turkey, it was found that 846 out of 2,251 investments were in European Union (EU) countries and 464 were in the United Kingdom, Russia, the Balkans, Switzerland, Norway and Eastern Europe, grouped as “other European countries”. Other important regions included the Near and Middle East of Asia with 256, other Asian countries with 246 and North American countries with 220.

The share of EU countries in total investments is 38.3 percent

Accordingly, the share of the EU countries in total investments was 38.3 percent, while the share of the other European countries was calculated at 20.8 percent.

If we look at the capitalization of foreign investments by region, it can be seen that the EU countries are in first place with a share of 53.1 percent and a capitalization of 36.7 billion dollars. The EU countries were followed by “other European countries” with a share of 26.2 percent and $18.1 billion. There is a 5.62 percent, $3.9 billion share of Turkish investment in North America and a 5.59 percent, $3.9 billion share in “other Asian countries,” including the Central Asian Turkic Republics and Southeast Asian countries. The Middle East Asia region, which includes neighboring countries such as Georgia and Azerbaijan as well as the Middle East and the Gulf States, accounted for 4.04 percent of investments and a capital position of $2.8 billion.

It was determined that exports from Türkiye to these investments will be $10.7 billion and imports will be $8.1 billion in 2025.

The Netherlands comes first

As of the end of last year, there were direct Turkish investments in a total of 128 countries. The Netherlands came first with 223 investments and a capitalization of 26 billion 142 million dollars. This land was followed by the Jersey region with 4 investments and a capital position of 4 billion 787 million dollars. The United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland) also stood out in the list with 125 investments and an investment amount of $3 billion,903 million, and the USA with 209 investments and an investment amount of $3 billion,808 million.

When it comes to foreign investments by individuals and legal entities resident in Turkey, financial and insurance activities were the top priority with a share of 62 percent. The majority of this activity was the activities of holding companies.

The finance and insurance sector was followed by mining and quarries with a share of 7.8 percent, wholesale and retail trade with 5.1 percent, basic metals industry with 4.2 percent, transport and storage with 3.8 percent, food, beverage and tobacco manufacturing with 2.9 percent, accommodation and catering with 2.3 percent and construction activities with a share of 1.6 percent.
