In a short statement to the American broadcaster NBC News, Trump assessed the current situation in the agreement process with Iran.
Trump said he was not informed in advance that Iran was suspending talks due to Israel's increasing attacks on Lebanon.
The US president said: “They didn't inform us about this. But that doesn't mean we're going to go there and drop bombs everywhere.” he said.
Declaring that the Iranians were “better” at the negotiating table, not at war, Trump said: “To tell you the truth, I think we've talked too much. I think it would be very good to be silent for a while, and it could be a long time.” gave his assessment.
Trump also noted that the naval blockade of Iran's ports was “stubborn” and that they would continue to do so, stating that “Iran has lost a huge amount of money through this process.”
The semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim announced that Iran had stopped exchanging news with the US.
It stated that due to Israel's continued attacks on Lebanon, Iran had stopped exchanging messages with the US through intermediaries and demanded that Israel stop its attacks on Lebanon and withdraw from the occupied territories so that negotiations could resume.
It was stated that Iran was also considering completely closing the Strait of Hormuz and activating other fronts, including the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
