Trump spoke to Israel's Channel 12 about tensions with Iran.
Trump said he had “decided to stop US attacks on Iran to give negotiations another chance.”
Trump claimed that he wanted the mediating countries to “give negotiations another chance” and therefore ordered Iran to stop the attacks on July 24. “Everyone who was interested in Iran told me: 'Don't shoot'.” He made a statement.
Referring to negotiations with Iran through intermediary countries, Trump said: “We are in very intensive discussions with Iran. If it doesn't work, we will go back to very strong military action.” he said.
Asked how much time he would allow for diplomacy, Trump said: “Not too much time. It's either going to happen quickly or not at all.” gave his assessment.
Referring to his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House tomorrow, Trump said: “I will speak to Bibi (Netanyahu) about the fact that Iran would now have nuclear weapons and Israel would be destroyed if I were not president.” he said.
A delegation from Oman traveled to Tehran on July 24 to discuss the mechanism to control shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Tehran government announced that “progress has been made” in negotiations between Iran and Oman on the mechanism to control shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, but no agreement has yet been reached.
