According to the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), automobile and light commercial vehicle sales in Turkey fell 7.4 percent on an annual basis in the January-May period, falling to 453,138.
During this period, automobile sales fell 9.65 percent to 356,256 compared to the same period in 2025, and the light commercial vehicle market increased 1.94 percent to 96,882.
The best-selling cars by engine type in the period in question were petrol engines with 148,000 75 units and a share of 41.6 percent. Hybrid cars had a share of 33.4 percent with 119,000 22 sales, electric cars had a share of 18.6 percent with 66,000,353 sales, diesel cars had a share of 5.8 percent with 20,000,683 sales and LPG cars had a share of 0.6 percent with 2,000,123 sales.
Sales of fully electric cars rose by 11 percent
In the period from January to May, the number of “fully electric” cars sold rose by 11 percent to 65,805. The share of fully electric cars in total sales rose from 15 percent to 18.5 percent and the share of hybrid cars rose from 28.9 percent to 33.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
Looking at “Full Electric”, “Extended Range Electric” and “Hybrid” vehicles during this period, 52 percent of the total market was made up of vehicles with electric motors.
Togg's market share for electric cars reached 25 percent
According to ODMD data, Togg, which continues its rise among electric car brands, ranked in the top two in the Turkish market with its two models in the first five months of the year.
While Togg T10X took first place with 9,000 70 sales in the 5-month period of the year, its other model T10F took second place with 7,000 675 sales. During this period, Togg's total sales were 16,745, and the brand's electric car market share was 25 percent.
There were 13,000 513 Togg T10X sales in the January-May period last year.
Looking at the electric car market by model, in the January-May period, KG Mobility Torres ranked third after Togg T10X and T10F with 5,000,692 sales, MINI Countryman fourth with 5,000,435 and Tesla Model Y fifth with 3,000,395 sales.
May sales
In May alone, the Togg T10X was in first place with 1832 sales, the Togg T10F was in second place with 1673 sales and the MINI Countryman was in third place with 1207 sales in the all-electric car market with 11,000 461 units.
While KG Mobility Torres took fourth place with 880 sales, Opel Frontera took fifth place with 611 sales.
