“The whole world is feeling the earthquake on the energy markets”

In his written statement, Fatih Dönmez, Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Parliamentary Assembly (BSEC) and AK Party Eskişehir MP, said that the whole world felt the tremors of the earthquake on the energy markets due to the intensity of the war over Türkiye.

Fatih Dönmez made the following assessments:

“It is no coincidence that the barrel price of oil increased by 40 percent from February 2026 to March 2026, from $71 to about $100. Likewise, there was a noticeable increase in natural gas prices, with European gas rising from about $40/MWh to $65/MWh.”

Dönmez explained that the sharply accelerated development of oil and natural gas prices is “an artificial but destructive increase due to instability and uncertainty,” pointing out that this increase entails high costs for the global economy.

Dönmez, President of the Turkish PABSEC Group, continued:

“A burden of about $6 billion a day threatens economic growth and stability around the world. We hope that a climate in which the guns fall silent and peace regains strength prevails as soon as possible.”
