The “V.Talks” panel took place as part of the 8th Productivity and Technology Fair

Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Çetin Ali Dönmez, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Ahmet Bağcı and Türk Telekom Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ebubekir Şahin took part in the panel discussion at the ATO Congress.

In his speech here, Dönmez said that without technology it is not possible to compete on a global scale.

Emphasizing that research and development should be important, Dönmez said: “Without research and development, nothing will happen and we have to commercialize it. Without research and development, there will be no productivity. Efficiency does not mean spending energy on a specific good and obtaining a large number of products through the worker's supervision. The goods you sell must be valuable, this awareness must be developed.” he said.

Emphasizing that the entrepreneurship ecosystem should be further developed, Dönmez said:

“The state must organize the ecosystem. There should be lifelong learning and working where you are happy. Capitalism does not fit our genetic codes.

“Food and agriculture have become a strategic area”

Ahmet Bağcı, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, also stated that there is a mutual connection between the agricultural sector and Industry 4.0.

Bağcı emphasized that global food stocks have decreased in the period that began with the Russia-Ukraine war and continued with Iran and the Israeli-American war, explaining that food and agriculture have become a strategic area and that they predict that if the war in question does not end, inflation will increase due to costs.

Stating that the use of technology in agriculture has increased, Bağcı said: “There are gaps in this area in Turkey that can be turned into opportunities. There is waste in the harvesting side, not on the production side. Technology should also be used in this area. This waste is about 40 percent, and if we reduce it to 10 percent, there will be enough food for everyone.” gave his assessment.

“5G includes revolutionary developments in the industry”

Ebubekir Şahin, Chairman of the Board (CEO) of Türk Telekom, also drew attention to the point that technology has reached recently, stating that the point reached is reaching its limits in information transmission and transportation.

Recalling that 5G technology was introduced in Turkey two weeks ago, Şahin said, “5G means the existence of a system that prevents millisecond delays in digital games. 5G is a technology that involves revolutionary developments not only in the telecommunications sector but also in the industry.” he said.
