The recordings of the conversation with air traffic control of the pilot of US airline JetBlue Flight 1112, which flew from Curaçao off the coast of Venezuela to John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in New York, have been released.
According to the recordings, the pilot stated that he “nearly collided with a U.S. Air Force tanker plane” and that the tanker plane passed directly in his flight path.
The pilot said: “An aerial refueling aircraft flew directly in front of us, at a distance of about 8 kilometers, maybe 3-5 kilometers. It was a US Air Force aircraft and was at our altitude.” he said.
The pilot, who said he had to abort his climb because of the plane in question, said the Air Force plane later entered Venezuelan airspace.
