The opening of Bilim Nouakchott, which was established within the framework of the Türkiye Mauritania Educational and Cultural Forum, and the DENEYAP technology workshop at the center, was held with a ceremony at the Technical Education and Vocational Training School.
The center, implemented in collaboration with the T3 Foundation and the Ministry of Vocational Training, Crafts and Professions of Mauritania, aims to contribute to the development of young people's skills in the fields of science, technology and innovation.
The ceremony was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Nouakchott Burhan Köroğlu, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Serdar Çam, Deputy Minister of National Education Cihad Demirli, Mauritanian Minister of Vocational Training, Crafts and Professions Mohamed Maalainine Ould Eyih, Chairman of the Board of Directors of T3 Foundation Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır and representatives of public, educational and non-governmental organizations from both countries.
After the speeches, the Potokol delegation visited the Science Türkiye Workshop and the DENEYAP Technology Workshop and received information about the educational activities to be carried out.
In his assessment on the issue, Hıdır stated that they attach importance to further strengthening Türkiye-Mauritania cooperation in the fields of education, science and technology.
Stating that the foundation aims to educate generations that research, produce and benefit their country and humanity in all their work, Hıdır said: “We believe that the best way to reveal the potential of children and young people is to provide them with an environment in which they can wonder, experiment and produce. Science Nouakchott is the result of this understanding.”
7. Science Center outside Türkiye
At Bilim Nouakchott, the first science center in Africa and the seventh outside Türkiye, students receive practical training in the fields of astronomy and aviation, natural sciences, mathematics, design and technology.
In the DENEYAP technology workshop, young people trained in areas such as robotic coding, artificial intelligence, design and production will be able to translate their acquired knowledge and skills into original projects.
The aim of the center is to strengthen education and technology cooperation between Türkiye and Mauritania and to contribute to the training of Mauritanian young people to become future scientists, engineers and technology entrepreneurs.
