The number of electric cars in Türkiye approached 400,000

The number of cars registered on the road in Türkiye in February was estimated at 17 million 523 thousand 423.

The number of electric vehicles, which produce lower carbon emissions, provide energy efficiency and help reduce noise pollution through their quiet operation compared to other types of fuel, has increased significantly in recent years along with the increase in charging stations.

The entry of the Türkiye Auto Togg into the market and the shift in user preferences in this direction also contributed to this increase.

The number of electric cars reached 400,000

While the number of electric cars registered on the road was only 565 in 2015, it reached 183,776 in 2024 and 370,591 in 2025.

The number of electric cars, which was reported as 206,22 in February 2025, was calculated at 395,697, an increase of 92 percent compared to the previous month.

The proportion of electric cars in registered cars, however, was 2.3 percent.

Great interest in hybrid cars

Hybrid vehicle data was first collected in 2011 with 23 units.

While the number of hybrid cars registered on the road rose to 13,000,877 in 2019, it reached 222,328 at the end of 2023 and 391,296 in 2024. This number increased to 741,149 in February 2026.

The share of hybrid cars in the total was 4.2 percent last month, while it was 4 percent in 2025.
