The number of cruise passengers visiting ports exceeded 455,000 in 5 months

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu informed about the cruise ship and passenger statistics for the May and January-May period prepared by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs.

Drawing special attention to the cruise ships calling at ports in the Aegean Sea and Istanbul, Uraloğlu said: “The number of cruise ships calling at our ports increased by 14.2 percent to 169 in May compared to the same month last year, and the number of cruise passengers increased by 10.8 percent to 257,897.”

Uraloğlu said that last month, 127,000 670 passengers came to Kuşadası Port on 75 cruise ships, 59,000 176 passengers came to Istanbul Ports on 31 cruise ships, 10,000 889 passengers came to Bodrum Port on 11 cruise ships, and 60,000 162 passengers came to 52 cruise ships came to other ports.

Analyzing the five-month data, Minister Uraloğlu said:

“The number of cruise ships arriving at our ports increased by 2.2 percent to 324 in the January-May period compared to the same period last year, and the number of cruise passengers increased by 3.9 percent to 455,580. In the first five months of 2026, 129 cruise ships called at the port of Kuşadası. The port of Kuşadası was followed by the ports of Istanbul with 66 ships and Izmir Alsancak Port with 26 ships was the port that hosted the most cruise passengers with 189,000 141 passengers, followed by the ports of Istanbul with 115,000 323 passengers, the port of Izmir with 51,202 cruise passengers and other ports with 99,000 914 cruise passengers.
