According to the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey reached 1 million 238 thousand 509 units in the January-December 2024 period, an increase of 0.5 percent year-on-year breaking the all-time annual sales record.
Automobile sales increased by 1.3 percent in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching 980,341 units. When evaluated by body type, SUV vehicles were the most popular body type with a share of 56.8 percent and 556,000,548 sales.
SUV cars were followed by sedans with a 25.4 percent share and 248,000 902 sales and hatchback cars with a 16.8 percent share and 164,000 443 sales.
During this period, domestically produced cars accounted for 15 percent of the 85,000,579 SUV vehicles sold.
Depending on the engine type, 319,000 956 of the SUV vehicles were preferred with gasoline engines, 111,000 123 with hybrid engines, 86,000 365 with electric motors and 39,000 104 with diesel engines.
Last year, the Togg T10X took first place among Türkiye's most popular SUV models with 30,000 units sold.
