Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that TÜRKSAT, which has built Türkiye's digital infrastructure, especially e-government, will commission a new project.
Stating that with the establishment of TÜRKSAT Gölbaşı Data Center in Ankara, all data and cloud services needs of institutions containing critical information will be met with domestic software, Uraloğlu shared the information: “Gölbaşı Data Center will be one of the largest data centers in Türkiye with its huge area of 35,000 300 square meters.”
Uraloğlu said that they will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the center on Wednesday, July 22.
The physical capacity of TÜRKSAT's existing data center will be increased
Pointing out that the center will have 6 system halls, 2 high-performance rooms with 20 cabins and a white area of 6,300 square meters, Uraloğlu stated that there will also be an office area with a capacity of 200 people in the facility.
Stating that the investment will increase the physical capacity of TÜRKSAT's existing data center by three times in the first phase and more than eight times in the second phase, Uraloğlu made the following assessment:
“The center, which will have an installed power capacity of 33 Megavolt Amperes (MVA), will be constructed in compliance with LEED Gold certification for energy efficiency and 'Uptime Institute TIER-III' and TSE 50600 standards for data centers. The center will have the necessary infrastructure for providing services such as data analysis, data set processing, training of algorithms, modelling, prediction, classification, rapid mathematical calculations under the headings such as artificial intelligence applications, deep Learning, data mining and machine learning. The center will have the necessary infrastructure “It will ensure that Turkey's largest institutions and organizations receive secure and uninterrupted service even in exceptional situations.” In fact, it will be our country’s largest data center dedicated specifically to public services.”

Uraloğlu stated that they plan to bring an environmentally friendly facility with low CO2 emissions and high energy efficiency to the country:
“Another main purpose of this project is to ensure maximum efficiency in public resources. Thanks to the data center, the public does not need to set up separate system rooms within its own structure, does not have to make repeated hardware investments and does not bear maintenance and operation costs. All data and cloud services are collected under one roof and protected at the highest level with the assurance of TÜRKSAT, which sets up and operates the e-government gateway.”
