The process of determining the new minimum wage by the Commission for Determining the Minimum Wage has begun.
The Minimum Wage Commission held its first meeting as part of the work to establish the new minimum wage, which directly affects around 7 million workers and indirectly affects society in general.
Representatives of workers, employers and the government, which are parties to the commission setting the minimum wage, were invited to the meeting at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
“I expect the TISK delegation to take responsibility”
In his speech at the 29th Ordinary General Assembly of TİSK, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed the process of setting the new minimum wage and made the following statements:
“As you know, the Minimum Wage Setting Commission will hold its first meeting. I expect the TİSK delegation representing employers to take responsibility for the work of the Commission. Every positive step you take towards our colleagues will be reflected in productivity, profit and abundance.”
The second meeting will take place on Thursday, December 18th
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security announced that the Commission for Setting the Minimum Wage will hold its second meeting on Thursday, December 18.
The ministry's statement contained the following statements:
“The Minimum Wage Setting Commission held its first meeting within the framework of the work on setting the minimum wage valid in 2026, which was hosted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. General Director of Labor Oğuz Tuncay chaired the meeting. The Minimum Wage Setting Commission will hold its second meeting on December 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. within the framework of the work on setting the minimum wage valid in the new year.”
“The work is carried out with an understanding that protects the income of our employees.”
Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Işıkhan made a statement on his NSosyal account regarding the procedure of the Commission for Setting the Minimum Wage.
Recalling that they met with representatives of workers' and employers' organizations, Işıkhan emphasized that they considered it particularly important to strengthen the social dialogue mechanism during this process.
Işıkhan said: “The work will be carried out with an understanding that protects our employees' incomes as well as employment and macroeconomic balance.” He expressed his hope that the process would be beneficial for Türkiye, especially for workers and employers.
The current minimum wage is 22,000 104 lira net
The minimum wage is currently 26,000 5 lira and 50 kuruş gross per month for an employee and 22,000 104 lira and 67 kuruş net if deductions are reduced.
The total cost of the minimum wage for the employer is 30,621 lira and 48 kuruş for an employee. Of this, 26,000 5 lira and 50 cents go to the gross minimum wage, 4,000 95 lira and 87 cents to social security premiums and 520 lira and 11 cents to the employer's unemployment insurance fund.
