The banking sector's net profit was 87.2 billion lira in January

The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) has released the “Turkish Banking Sector Unconsolidated Key Indicators” report for January.

Accordingly, the asset size of the Turkish banking sector in January was 48 trillion 574 billion 239 million lira. The sector's total assets increased by 1 trillion 627 billion 441 million lira compared to the end of 2025.

Loans, the sector's largest asset, amounted to 23 trillion 646 billion 98 million lira in January, and securities reached 7 trillion 53 billion 126 million lira.

Compared to the end of 2025, the sector's total assets increased by 3.5 percent, the total loans increased by 2.2 percent and the total securities increased by 0.6 percent. During this period, the conversion rate of loans to non-performing loans was 2.57 percent.

Deposits, the largest source of financing for banks, increased by 2.2 percent compared to the end of 2025, reaching 27 trillion 829 billion 329 million lira.

The total equity capital of the banking sector increased by 2.5 percent compared to the end of 2025, reaching 4 trillion 260 billion 173 million lira.

During this period, the sector's net profit amounted to 87 billion 249 million lira and the capital adequacy standard ratio was 16.77 percent.
