Syria signed the first project with the World Bank in 40 years

In his statement on his social media account, Syrian Finance Minister Muhammed Yaser Berniye announced that the final document of the electricity transmission line repair and strengthening project has been signed.

Explaining that the project was funded under a grant and not a loan, Berniye said: “This study will particularly support the Ministry of Energy's efforts to strengthen electricity supply and contribute to the country's economy.” he said.

In June, the World Bank board approved a $146 million grant to repair power transmission lines in Syria.
