Saudi Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki said in his statement that “five enemy UAVs” were blocked and destroyed near Prince Sultan Air Base.
Maliki did not provide any further details in his statement.
There was limited damage at the Ras Tanura oil refinery
On the other hand, a Saudi Arabian Energy Ministry official announced that limited damage was caused to the facility at 7:04 a.m. local time from falling parts of two UAVs that were blocked around the Ras Tanura oil refinery in the city of Demmam.
The statement said that the small fire caused by shrapnel was immediately tackled by rescue workers and the fire was brought under control. There were no fatalities or injuries in the incident.
The official also stressed that some production units of the refinery were temporarily stopped as a precautionary measure, but there was no disruption in the supply of oil and petroleum products to local markets.
Defense Ministry spokesman Maliki announced that two UAVs that planned to attack the Ras Tanura oil refinery in the city of Dammam were blocked and the attack was repelled today.
Maliki said there were no civilian injuries during the blockade and that a small fire broke out in the refinery due to falling shrapnel, which was brought under control within a short time.
