According to the Kremlin Palace, President Vladimir Putin visited St. Petersburg, Russia to mark Russian Navy Day. He met with military officials in St. Petersburg.
During the meeting, the commander of the Russian Naval Forces Alexander Moiseyev and the fleet commanders briefed Putin on the operational situation and the tasks carried out.
In his speech here, Putin ordered a response to attempts to seize Russian ships, saying: “Malicious persons are trying to attack our fleet, including the merchant fleet. In such cases, piracy must be decisively combated within the framework of international maritime law. I hope that work in this direction will be effective.” he said.
Putin stressed that they would respond to threats against Russia's Kaliningrad region, saying: “The security of the Kaliningrad region will be ensured by all means at Russia's disposal.” he said.
“We will continue to develop the Russian Navy”
Putin noted that Russian Navy units were involved in the conflicts in Ukraine: “Marines are advancing more and more and have saved more than 20 settlements (in Ukraine) this year.” he said.
Stating that the Russian navy would be further developed and the ships equipped with modern weapons, Vladimir Putin said: “Our navy is of great importance in the nuclear trilogy.” gave his assessment.
“Ukraine will lose the land in its western part”
Pointing out that the lands in the western part of Ukraine were gifted by former Soviet Union leader Joseph Stalin, Putin said: “I am sure that sooner or later Ukraine will lose these lands. They belonged to Poland, Hungary and Romania. Everything will find its place in history today, tomorrow or a few years later.” he said.
President Putin said: “Russia has so far been the only guarantor of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, but Kiev chose to view Russia as an enemy.”
Putin stated that they will do their best to win the war in Ukraine and stated that the “special military operation” will end sooner or later.
