According to a statement from the Kremlin Palace, the telephone conversation between Putin and Pezeshkian discussed “the situation in the Middle East as a result of the unprovoked aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran.”
During the meeting, Putin reiterated Russia's fundamental position to reduce tensions and resolve the problem through political means.
Pezeshkian also thanked Putin for Russia's support to Iran, especially for providing humanitarian aid.
Putin made some overtures to Trump regarding Iran
Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump yesterday. During the meeting, where the situation in Iran was discussed, Putin expressed some of his views on the political-diplomatic solution to the problem.
In his statement to reporters today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia's offers regarding the Middle East region were on the table, saying: “Russia is ready to do its best on this issue, but a comprehensive understanding on this issue is required.” He used the expressions.
