The July 25-27 poll by The Economist and YouGov asked 1,559 respondents over the age of 18: “The ICC has an arrest warrant for Netanyahu. Should Netanyahu be arrested in the US?” The question was asked.
While 49 percent of participants answered “yes” and said Netanyahu should be arrested in the United States, 27 percent answered “no” to that question. The proportion of undecided people was 23 percent.
“Do you think Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal in Gaza?” While 47 percent of participants answered the question “yes,” 24 percent answered “no.” 29 percent of participants said they were “undecided.”
In contrast, 43 percent of participants said that they believed genocide had been committed in Palestine, 24 percent were of the opinion that there was no genocide and 32 percent abstained from answering “abstain.”

On November 21, 2024, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said in his July 18 statement on whether they would implement the ICC's arrest decision when Netanyahu travels to New York for the UN General Assembly sessions in September: “We will act within the framework of the powers granted to us by the laws of the City of New York, but we will not write our own laws for this purpose.” He used the expression.
Mamdani said: “I think Netanyahu's place is in The Hague. He is a war criminal indicted by the ICC.” He also made an assessment.
Following those remarks, Netanyahu accused Mamdani of “attacking the leader of the Jewish state, the only democracy in the Middle East” and argued that the ICC has no jurisdiction over U.S. and Israeli citizens.
