According to the communiqué, companies can no longer advertise using just the product label. They must submit comprehensive technical dossiers to the ministry.
The file details all the data about the product, from the toxicological study, the risk assessment analysis, the production process to the reliability report.
Companies can now ask directly from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry whether a product is considered a new food.
The General Directorate of Food and Control examines the application to the relevant commission and makes an official decision within 4 months at the latest.
