Finance and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek made a statement on inflation data on his social media account.

“While inflation was 1.9 percent monthly in March, annual inflation fell to 30.9 percent.
Food inflation improved by 4.8 points compared to the same month last year and reached 32.4 percent annually. We expect the normalization of climatic conditions following last year's freeze and drought to support the outlook for food inflation in 2026.
The annual inflation rate in the services sector fell by 16.1 points last year. disinflation in the services sector; We expect the downward trend in rental price growth to become more evident in the coming period as a result of our housing supply increases and rules-based pricing in education.
We are taking the necessary measures to limit the impact of geopolitical developments on our economy. With the fiscal space we have created over the program period, we are quickly and effectively implementing applications such as Ecel Mobile that will reduce inflationary pressures.
“Although these shocks may have short-term inflationary impacts, we continue to implement our policies holistically and decisively to achieve our goal of sustained price stability.”
