Minister Şimşek evaluated the foreign trade data for April in his post on his NSosyal account.
Şimşek emphasized that exports increased by 22.3 percent annually in April due to the calendar effect, but the increase in imports was limited to 3.1 percent:
“Annualized exports reached the highest level in our history at $275.8 billion. In the second quarter, as geopolitical tensions continue, there will be periodic fluctuations in the foreign trade outlook due to the calendar effect. At this time, when global conditions are challenging, we continue to support the sectors that generate foreign exchange for our country and the transformation in production, and take structural steps that increase competitiveness.”
