Minister Kacır: We are building a telescope with a diameter of four meters

Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that the students were eagerly waiting for Turkey's first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı in the program at Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center of Selçuk University.

Kacır explained that when announcing Turkey's first manned space mission, they promised that Gezeravcı would visit 81 provinces upon his return, emphasizing that with these programs they wanted to bring the astronaut together with students and young people, especially university students.

Pointing out that Gezeravcı's first program was held in Konya, Kacır stated that he was very satisfied with the interest shown.

“Turkey's first national fighter aircraft, KAAN, has gained wings”

Kacır reminded that the National Technology Move was initiated under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan:

“Yesterday we witnessed with pride and pride one of the most important milestones of this journey. Not a day or week goes by without our country's children, scientists, engineers and technicians implementing a new project that will make us proud. Yesterday the first in Turkey.” The national fighter aircraft KAAN took wings. The Turk's steel wings hit the sky. With God's permission, we flew our unmanned aerial vehicles Bayraktar, Anka, Aksungur, Akıncı, Kızılelma, Anka 2, Anka 3 and Bayraktar TB3. On the other hand, our national aviation journey, which we continued with Hürkuş, Hürjet, continued with Atak, Atak 2 and Gökbey and crowned with KAAN, will continue. As Turkey leaves its mark in the sky, hopefully we will all see that justice and mercy come back to the world.”

Kacır explained that while they are pushing forward defense industry projects, they are also trying to accelerate national technology development.

Pointing out that they are aiming for similar success in the defense industry in the field of space, Kacır said: “In 2018, our esteemed President established the Turkish Space Agency. He gave us a job at this agency. They become the 'National Space Program'. We will make Turkey one of the leading countries in the space race.” “We will realize these works step by step within ten years, and I will protect these works with all my will,” he said. “This is who we are. We are working with our entire team and all our stakeholders to make the National Space Program a reality from this day to this day,” he said.

“We are trying to assert our claim to communications satellites as well.”

Pointing out that Turkey has extensive experience in space systems, Kacır made the following assessments:

“During our National Technology Move journey, we have made very important progress in the development of satellite systems at local and national levels. Today, Turkey is a country that can develop imaging satellites with its own resources and can develop and produce not only satellites but also their critical subsystems and electro-optical cameras at local and national levels. This certainly didn't happen in one day. Twenty years ago, the Türksat satellite was a joint production project. With this project, the localization steps in Turkey accelerated. How did we manage to produce then? the RASAT satellite locally? We developed and produced the Göktürk satellite locally and nationally. Ultimately, it has a high resolution, submeter resolution “We developed and produced our imaging satellite İMECE locally and nationally with the hard work and intellect of the Turks.” Scientists and engineers sent it into space last year. We are trying to enforce our claim not only in imaging, but also in communications satellites.”

“We are building one of the most modern telescopes at the Eastern Anatolian Observatory”

Emphasizing that they will continue to work hard to achieve the goals of the National Space Program, Kacır said:

“We are building one of the most advanced telescopes in our region at the Eastern Anatolian Observatory in Erzurum. We are building a telescope with a diameter of four meters. Hopefully we can put our East Anatolian Observatory into operation soon and achieve another very important achievement.” Turkey for Space Research. National “All goals of the space program consist of carefully prepared projects for Turkey's independence and future. No matter what anyone says, we will continue to work with all our might to achieve these goals on behalf of our nation.”
