According to the information received by TÜBİTAK, a tender for “Biohybrid Robot (B-9) Development” was opened by the Defense and Security Technologies Research Support Group (SAVTAG) within the framework of the Program to Support Research and Development Projects of Public Institutions.
The aim of the advertised B-9 project is to develop a biohybrid robot, a modular robot platform consisting of living organisms and microelectronic components that work in an integrated structure and collect environmental data depending on the mission scenario and/or a controllable configuration.
At the end of the project, in which the biohybrid robot is designed, developed and functional, performance and interface tests are carried out, the design details and operational protocols for the mission-oriented biohybrid robot, which consists of an integrated structure of living and synthetic elements, can be remotely controlled and controlled, and can transmit the data it collects to the ground control unit, will be delivered as a technical data package in accordance with the relevant standard.
Used in disaster areas
The aim of the project is to provide technological knowledge for the controllable biohybrid robot system with local and national resources in Turkey.
This is intended to pave the way for an innovative reconnaissance infrastructure that can go beyond classic solutions in many critical areas such as search and rescue in disaster areas, environmental monitoring, agricultural observation and tactical operations in low visibility.
