The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth obtained the recording of Saar's closed-door conversations at a meeting with US supporters of the ruling Likud party in Israel.
Saar said that contrary to the statements of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the war, the Tehran government did not resume uranium enrichment activities after the 12-day war in June 2025, arguing that they attacked Iran because of its intention to move its nuclear program underground.
Despite statements from Israeli officials to that effect, Saar maintained that overthrowing the Tehran government was not her primary goal and that it was in the hands of the Iranian people.
Saar stated that Iran does not want the war to resume and admitted that he had differences of opinion with US President Trump over new attacks, but claimed that they were of the same opinion in the “overall context”.
Israel's foreign minister indicated that this could be done quickly to reduce dependence on American military aid.
No steps are being taken to annex the West Bank
Saar also addressed the issue of Israel's annexation of the occupied West Bank, noting that they would not take such a step because Trump was against it.
“For the annexation of the West Bank, we only need to act in coordination with the United States. As you know, President Trump does not support this for now,” Saar said. he said.
Saar argued that such a move would isolate Israel and argued that no Palestinian state should be established.
