According to the Iranian official news agency IRNA, Vice President for Strategic Affairs presented Zarif President Mesud Pezşkiyan.
Pezşkiyan said Zarif had not yet answered his letter of resignation.
It was noteworthy that Vice President Zarif's resignation would be received by the meeting after the dismissal of the Minister of Economy Abdunnasır Himmeti. The Himmeti, who was accused of being ineffective against the problems in the economy, was released from Parliament yesterday.
Between 2013 and 2021, Zarif worked as Foreign Minister in the period of former President Hasan Rouhani and was one of the architects of the nuclear agreement signed in 2015. Zarif was appointed Vice President by President Pezşkiyan in August.
Zarif, who was targeted by extremely conservative groups, implied that the government had resigned in August, where he received confidence in Parliament, but then continued his duty.
Zarif recently attracted the reaction of the country's conservative groups based on his statements about the Headscarb ban of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the city of Davos in the city of Switzerland and its attacks on October 7, 2023. Demonstrations were organized by some groups in Tehran and Mashhad against Zarif.
