The Revolutionary Guard statement published in the Iranian press said: “Our naval and air forces were able to repel this attack. They forced the attacker's forces to retreat, thereby preserving Iran's sovereignty over its territory and territorial waters.” Statements were recorded.
The statement noted the following:
“We emphasize that this aggression will not go unanswered and that our response, at the time and place we choose, will be swift and decisive. We warn that any new folly will be met with a harsh response that will shatter the illusions of the aggressors in the region.”
Iranian media reported that the pier in the city of Sirik was attacked after sounds of explosions were heard.
The statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that targets on the Iranian coast were hit in response to the attack on a cargo ship yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz.
