Iranian state television published the contents of the “unofficial document” on the framework of the 14-article Memorandum of Understanding drawn up between the two countries with the mediation of Pakistan.
According to the unofficial text, one of the most important articles of the agreement is the redefinition of the rules of passage in the Strait of Hormuz.
In this context, Iran will have exclusive authority to determine the type of ships that will pass through the Bosphorus. Any ship whose cargo is considered a threat or whose ultimate operator is hostile to Iran will not be recognized as a merchant vessel and will not be allowed to pass through the designated routes. The news also said that the memorandum of understanding was unofficial as it was still being reviewed by Iran.
