According to Iranian state television, Parliament Speaker Mohammed Baqir Qalibaf spoke about developments in the Strait of Hormuz.
Recalling that the US continues the blockade against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, Kalibaf said: “If there is traffic in the Strait (of Hormuz) today, it is because the Strait is under our control.” he said.
Calling the blockade imposed by the US in recent days a “thoughtless” decision, Kalibaf said: “If we cannot pass through the Strait of Hormuz, there is no way for others.” he said.
Kalibaf said: “If America does not lift the blockade, traffic in the Strait of Hormuz will definitely be restricted.” he said.
Kalibaf, who also described a conversation they had during talks with the US in Pakistan over the Strait of Hormuz, said: “I told the US delegation in Islamabad: 'If your minelayers advance a little further from where they are, we will definitely fire.' “They asked for 15 minutes to give the order to return and they gave (the order).” he said.
