In his written statement, Minister Uraloğlu informed about the hot air balloon statistics prepared by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM).
Stating that thanks to the safe flight training under the DGCA, Türkiye has reached a top position in the world in terms of both traffic volume and the number of days flown in this field, Uraloğlu stated that there are 71 hot air balloon companies approved by the DGCA and the training for this sector is provided by 6 approved institutions.
Stating that 40,000 balloon flights were carried out in Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Soğanlı, Çat, Ihlara, Şanlıurfa-Göbeklitepe, Afyonkarahisar and Antalya, Uraloğlu said: “These flights accommodated 915,000 domestic and foreign passengers. Traveled in the first half of 2026 308,000 passengers in 13,000 balloon flights.” gave his assessment.

Uraloğlu stated that the number of balloons operated in Türkiye reached 530 and more than 80 percent of the flights took place in the Cappadocia region:
“The hot air balloon business in our country continues to grow every year. As a ministry, we have provided all kinds of support in this area. Since 2011, 6 million 893,000 local and foreign balloon passengers have had the opportunity to observe the unique nature of Türkiye on around 350,000 flights throughout Turkey. The number of passengers flying in hot air balloons has reached a size that exceeds the capital's population.”
Hot air balloons manufactured in Turkey have been exported to 11 countries
Sharing that hot air balloons made in Turkey were exported to 11 countries as of 2026, Uraloğlu said, “A total of 53 balloons were exported to Rwanda, Ghana, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Oman, Tanzania, South Korea, Japan, Mexico and Jordan. The country with the most sales was Egypt with 27 balloons.” he said.
