The Ministry of Commerce announced the export figures for the first 5 months of the year.
The ministry's statement is as follows:
“In the January-May 2026 period, our exports increased by 0.3 percent to 111 billion 169 million dollars, while 21 of our provinces exported over 1 billion dollars. In May 2026, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Izmir, Bursa and Ankara were our provinces in the top five exports, while Tekirdağ, Mersin, Sakarya, Gaziantep and Manisa were our provinces in second place 5. In 2026, our exports also increased in 40 provinces between January and May.
As the Ministry of Commerce, we continue our work with determination to increase exports with our policies and strategies aimed at market and product diversification for high value addition and competitive exports. On the other hand, we are striving for a strong expansion of exports throughout the country. “We aim for a more prosperous Türkiye by increasing local production and jobs.”
Top 5 in exports
According to export statistics based on activity provinces in May; It was found that Istanbul ranked first with $4 billion 495 million, Kocaeli ranked second with $3 billion 60 million, Izmir ranked third with $2 billion 79 million, Bursa ranked fourth with $1 billion 762 million, and Ankara ranked fifth with $1 billion 356 million.
It was stated that the highest increase in exports in May compared to the same month last year was recorded in Ankara with an increase of $300 million, Osmaniye with an increase of $29 million, Şırnak with an increase of $26 million, İzmir with an increase of $20 million and Elazığ with an increase of $13 million.
