Huge power alliance in space: TÜRKSAT and ROKETSAN joined forces

According to the information from the 2025 Activity Report of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure TÜRKSAT AŞ, the field requirements and system architecture were evaluated in the project progress meetings for the installation of satellite communication infrastructure in the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan.

While the system, the Ku-band gateway satellite ground station and the installation of mobile and fixed terminals are being completed with the equipment whose dispatch process was completed last year, the system is expected to be put into operation this year.

Service delivery continues in many countries on the African continent

TÜRKSAT provides the secure and uninterrupted communications infrastructure that national and international military institutions need with value-added services.

While domestic and international needs were met within the framework of the domestic satellite fleet, services were provided through global collaborations in regions outside the coverage area, making this area a strategic revenue item. In this context, services continue to be provided in many countries on the African continent.

While the sales volume achieved through global collaborations increased significantly, revenues in 2024 amounted to $7.1 million in 2024. In addition, the project to provide hardware and satellite capacity VSAT HUB implemented with the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan strengthened the vision of cooperation with foreign military organizations.

TÜRKSAT is more than just a provider of satellite data communications capacity and has developed into a solution partner for digital transformation. Around 7,600 terminals reached on theoretical, public, maritime and mobile platforms were an indicator of operational competence and great trust in the market.

TURKSAT satellite services are being diversified

For the first time, international applications for constellation systems in low orbit (LEO) and medium orbit (MEO) were submitted to the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) on behalf of Turkey, thereby taking the first concrete steps in the area of non-GEO orbits (NGSO).

The constellation network applications in question are a strategic step towards obtaining orbital and spectrum rights for the LEO/MEO constellation projects for which TÜRKSAT is conducting feasibility studies. On the other hand, strategic collaborations with LEO/MEO constellation operators are carried out in a global context.

As part of the studies, it will be possible to diversify TURKSAT satellite services and offer solutions through multi-orbit satellite systems.

Two established institutions will share their experiences

“Cooperation Protocol in the Field of Satellite Launch and Space Systems” was signed between TÜRKSAT and ROKETSAN last year, aiming to strengthen cooperation in satellite communication systems, launch technologies and orbit access, and to develop design and production capabilities.

The aim of the Protocol is for the Parties to exchange their experiences with each other, to ensure the transfer of applicable technologies to industry, to enable the joint implementation of planned projects and studies when necessary, and to carry out joint studies within the framework of the use of the developed products in satellite and space programs under the responsibility of the Parties.

Two established institutions will pool their experiences in different disciplines and join forces in satellite communications and space projects at home and abroad.

Geographical coverage has been expanded

While the TURKSAT Observatory successfully continued its routine observation activities planned last year, it contributed to international observation campaigns carried out jointly with research groups from different countries, as well as to local observation programs.

As part of the studies on the international cooperation protocol, contacts were established with institutions that have optical observatory infrastructure and are open to cooperation, especially in neighboring countries and Turkish republics. In this context, the geographical coverage area was expanded and the Arabian Peninsula and African countries were also included in the process.
