The government and the ministry work in many areas, ranging from accessibility regulations to the rehabilitation and employment of disabled citizens.
As part of employment-oriented efforts, the Examination for the Selection of Disabled Persons in the Public Service (EKPSS) was launched in 2012 to ensure the active participation of disabled persons in business life as well as in all sectors.
The ministry, which promotes the placement of disabled people in positions appropriate to their training through EKPSS, also covers the examination fees of disabled citizens. Adults who want to take EKPSS must have at least 40 percent disability.
While the number of disabled civil servants in the public sector was 5,777 in 2002, this number increased to 82,880 due to the government's efforts to increase the participation of disabled people in working life.
Protected jobs for disabled people
The Ministry offers work opportunities to mentally and intellectually disabled people who are difficult to employ in the general labor market using the Protected Workplace Model, in which work environments are specifically tailored to the needs of disabled people.
The Ministry, which supports people with disabilities to have a say in their lives as self-confident people through participation in production and their active participation in social life, offers wage incentives to every disabled person working in sheltered workplaces.
