Nacar, who attended the 3rd African Air Forces Forum in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, made statements on HAVELSAN's African expansion.
Nacar said they acted within the framework of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's African expansion vision to meet the defense needs of friendly and brotherly countries in the region and to build a strategic partnership with these countries, not a supplier-customer relationship.
Nacar stated that HAVELSAN initiated its Africa initiative in parallel with Turkey's policies in the region and stressed that as a company they have established closer contacts with the countries in the region since 2019 and that regular visits based on reciprocity are now known in many countries.
“We want to send many projects to Africa”
Nacar highlighted HAVELSAN's BAHA, combat management and training systems and training simulators and stated that they recommend these products to African countries.
Nacar explained that HAVELSAN has made many of its products available through its partners in Turkey: “We want to send many projects to the African continent. We have brought our products such as BAHA (unmanned aerial vehicle under the cloud), BARKAN (unmanned ground vehicle) and shooting simulators here.”
Nacar stressed that HAVELSAN carries out business development activities with all other African countries, especially Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Gambia, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Senegal and Cameroon.
“We see a very sincere interest in Nigeria”
Nacar explained that the Network Supported Data Integrated Combat Management System (ADVENT) developed by HAVELSAN was handed over to Nigeria under the agreement reached in June last year, saying: “We see a very sincere interest in Nigeria. We have launched some simulators.” “In the coming period, the ATAK helicopter will be available.” “We are waiting for the days when we can provide the ATAK helicopter simulator in view of the increasing demand,” he said.
Nacar said: “We are exporting BAHA to other countries and paving the way for this. BAHA is a product that is small in system, affordable and easy to use. We are convinced that BAHA will be a start and other countries will follow suit. We take this as an example and demand our products,” he said.
