Gezeravcı's blood samples were delivered to Üsküdar University

According to the university, Gezeravcı's blood samples, collected in space in a zero-gravity environment, were delivered to the laboratory as part of the MESSAGE (Microgravity Associated Genetics) experiment, one of the 13 scientific researches in Turkey's first manned space mission.

Üsküdar University TRGENMER Director and MESSAGE Experiment Project Manager Dr. Lecturer Member Cihan Taştan explained that the blood samples were provided by the authorities according to standards that would be stable at minus 80 degrees and made the following statements:

“The blood samples were then placed in the minus 80 cabinet in our TRGENMER laboratory. The blood samples collected as MESSAGE team were used in the acoustic levitation device we developed in the laboratory environment and in 2D culture for control purposes by knockout “We will conduct our experiments by observing the efficacy, studying the proliferation of T lymphocytes and finally compare the cytokine release profiles.”

“We want to discover reactions”

Noting that they cannot yet clearly state the results of the experiments, Taştan said: “We want to start experiments from the day the blood arrives, publish articles as soon as possible, make new gene discoveries and discover the reactions that affect weightlessness.” Environmental conditions give the cells.”

According to the statement, Büşra Tekirdağlı, Özge Demir, Ebru Çam, Fatmanur Erkek, Berranur Sert and Gamze Gülden assisted Taştan in the experiment.

With the experiment, the team will study the “analysis of the Turkish astronaut's genetic profile and its anticancer, proliferation and immunogenic effects on the acoustic levitation device providing a microgravity environment.”

CRISPR genetic engineering methods will be used to identify genes affected by the non-gravity environment whose functions have not yet been discovered, and which immune cells will be directly affected by gravity during space missions.
