According to the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the total exports of the earthquake-affected provinces, which exported 9 billion 386 million 367 thousand 880 dollars in the first six months of last year, increased by 7.34 percent this year.
Products worth 10 billion 74 million 953 thousand 430 dollars were marketed to various countries from Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye and Şanlıurfa in the first half of the year.
Gaziantep, the disaster zone's export leader
Exports of Gaziantep, one of the cities where earthquakes caused destruction, increased by 3.9 percent year-on-year in January-June, reaching 5 billion 37 million 910 thousand 520 dollars.
Gaziantep was recorded as the city with the most exports among eleven provinces.
In the first half of the year, Hatay was in second place with an increase of 4 percent and 1 billion 808 million 829 thousand 250 dollars, and Adana was in third place with an increase of 16.3 percent and 1 billion 690 million 880 thousand 380 dollars.
Elazığ is the city with the highest increase in foreign sales
In the region, where construction and renovation work continues to cover the traces of the disaster, Elazığ was the city that recorded the highest increase in foreign sales in the first six months.
From Elazığ, products worth 249 million 515 thousand 280 dollars were sent abroad, increasing exports by 321.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
From January to June, exports from Şanlıurfa with an increase of 10 percent to 181 million 951 thousand 730 dollars, from Osmaniye with an increase of 66.5 percent to 120 million 507 thousand 490 dollars and from Kilis with an increase of 13 percent to 69 million 172 thousand 980 dollars.
Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, Diyarbakır and Adıyaman's exports decreased
In four provinces in the earthquake zone, there was a decline in foreign sales during the period in question.
Kahramanmaraş's exports decreased by 2 percent to 625 million 65 thousand 110 dollars, Diyarbakır's exports decreased by 23.1 percent to 105 million 677 thousand 710 dollars, Malatya's exports decreased by 13.8 percent to 150 million 756 thousand 370 dollars and Adıyaman's exports declined 7.3 percent to 34 million returned 686 thousand dollars.
