According to the Ministry of Commerce, there are 19 free trade zones in Turkey.
These regions offer many advantages and incentives to investors and producers. Free zones contribute to exports and investments and offer many opportunities such as tax advantages, access to domestic and foreign markets, strategic advantages, profit transfer and favorable infrastructure.
At the end of May, 86,376 people worked in free zones, which also contributes to employment.
The trade volume of the free zones amounted to 27 billion 691 million dollars in 2024. This volume increased by 3.1 percent annually in 2025 and reached 28 billion 554 million dollars.
Trade from these regions was estimated at $11 billion 658 million in the January-May period. Exports from free zones reached $5 billion 359 million in the January-May period.
Thus, exports accounted for 46 percent of the 5-month trade volume of these regions, which amounted to 11 billion 658 million dollars.
The free zones' purchases from abroad amounted to 3 billion 287 million dollars. Free trade zones made $1 billion,444 million in purchases and $1 billion,569 million in domestic sales during the five-month period.
